Jill Echo received her B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Purchase College. She has performed with the Pearl Lang Dance Company, Janis Brenner & Dancers, Sue Bernhard Dance Works, Cortez & Company, NCNY Dance, Ruby Shang, Risa Jaraslow and Wil Swanson, among other freelance choreographers. Ms. Echo was a founding member of Taylor 2 and a member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company. Her television credits include appearances on PBS Alive From Off-Center, Dance in America and American Masters. Her teaching includes Purchase College, West Virginia University, Randolph College, Vassar College, American Academy of Ballet; and Master Classes both domestically and internationally, including the 2003 SUNY Purchase/Burgos summer program in Spain. Her choreography has been performed at West Virginia University, Purchase College for the Conservatory of Dance, Vassar College and Long Island University CW Post. She has also choreographed for Purchase College Repertory Theater in the following plays: Brendan Behan’s The Hostage, Shakespeare’s All’s Well, That Ends Well, As You Like It, The Winter’s Tale, Bertolt Brecht’s The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, and Suddenly the Sky Turned Blood Red a devised play by David Bassuk. She has restaged the works of Kazuko Hirabayashi and Takehiro Ueyama both domestically and internationally. She currently teaches Movement for Actors in the Theatre Arts and Film Department of Purchase College and is a member of Kazuko Hirabayashi Dance Theatre. She has worked with TAKE Dance Company since September 2003.
